Heavy rains and flooding over the weekend affected much of Central Florida, and the flooding in some areas of Melbourne was significant. Melbourne Mayor Paul Alfrey posted on Facebook that the flooding Saturday… caused in large part by the heavy rain combined with recent Brightline Rail Construction projects… was so heavy that it flooded a portion of Avocado Avenue and caused a large commercial trash bin to float away. There was standing water in many areas. This week, the rain should ease up, but not before a few more late afternoon showers make their way across the area later today… and maybe Tuesday too.
