A landlord in Sebastian was arrested after being accused of entering his tenant’s room to remove a sheet from a window because he didn’t think it belonged there, and then tossing away food that was in the refrigerator. The victim says 79 year old Howard Whitmore came into her dwelling while she was not home. Police said Whitmore is a live-in landlord who is renting a room to the tenant, but they never signed a lease. Police also say in the past when he entered the tenant’s room, they warned him not to do it again or he would be subject to criminal charges. Whitmore is now facing charges including burglary and criminal mischief. He was sent to the Indian River County Jail, with bond set at $10,500.
