St. John’s Flooding Worsening – Sanford Business’ Threatened

Rising flood waters from the St. John’s River are threatening more businesses today in downtown Sanford. One of those businesses is a well known and popular German restaurant and deli. Hollerbach’s in Sanford has been a downtown fixture for 21 years. The owners say Ian was one of the worst storms they’ve ever seen. The German deli and market was left a mess after the storm. The roof collapsed, and in the restaurant next door, flood waters cover the dining room floor. They say they have insurance and are already hard at work preparing to clean up so they can reopen. Many other stores and restaurants in Sanford also have taken a hit from the waters that today, still continue to rise.
