Volusia Teen Rejects Plea Deal

A 15-year-old Volusia County girl accused of shooting at Volusia County deputies, rejected a plea deal Thursday. Nicole Jackson was offered the plea deal of 20 years in prison and restitution, but she declined it, then she tried to convince the judge to remove her counsel, but the judge denied that request… saying if her attorney didn’t tell her what her potential exposure would be, then they wouldn’t have been doing their job. That request came after she said her lawyers had encouraged her to take the plea deal, but she felt like she was being pushed to take it… saying they were pressuring her. 20 years is the mandatory minimum sentence, but now after refusing that deal, she could be facing up to two consecutive life sentences.
