A new beach cleaner is hard at work in Brevard County, and it doesn’t ask for pay raises or time off. BeBot is a 900 pound robot that cleans the beaches of Brevard County… a solar-powered electric robot that sifts through the sand and removes all the contaminants. According to Keep Florida Beautiful, BeBot is the first robot of its kind in the world, and soon they hope to have 30 of them working at beaches all across the state. It was designed in Europe, and was donated by Surfing’s Evolution & Preservation Foundation. While it has to be driven by a human, it is remote controlled. It can sift small pieces of microplastic from the sand… something that is almost impossible for a human to do.
