Snake Traders Arrested In ” Operation Viper “

While invasive snakes pose a threat to people and Florida’s native wildlife, there are some laws against just how to go about handling them. 8 people have been arrested in an effort that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is calling ‘Operation Viper.’ The 8 people arrested last week are accused of taking part in an illegal venomous snake trafficking ring in Florida that began with an investigation into a black market in 2020 dealing in illegal and highly dangerous venomous reptiles in Florida. Some of the snakes are considered to be among the most deadly and dangerous in the world, and if they had escaped, they could have had a devastating impact on Florida’s native wildlife.
