Brevard Landfill Changes

Some changes are on the way in Brevard County, as one county landfill has stopped accepting certain kinds of waste. Brevard’s south area landfill on Sarno Road in Melbourne, no longer is taking in many common types of yard and construction waste. Items that fall under the category of Class III waste, such as yard trash, construction debris, and furniture are all now being rejected. That’s because the landfill will be at capacity at the end of February or early March, so now those who rely on it will have to the county’s only other landfill, which is in Cocoa until Brevard County’s new landfill on State Road 192 near the Osceola County line opens, and that’s not going to happen until 2026.
