High Speed Train Traffic In Brevard Getting Closer

Construction of the Brightline rail connecting Orlando to Miami is nearing completion, and Brightline now says the new high speed service will begin operation sometime later this year. They say the work is nearly 90% done, and now some final rounds of testing will soon start in Brevard County. Over the next few weeks, you will begin to see more Brightline trains on speed trial runs in Brevard County. The top speed in some spots will be 110 miles an hour. Brightline says to be safe, slow down or stop at crossings, whether the arms are down or not, because the trains will be coming through quickly. And generally, just stay off the tracks. That alone can save your life. One of the two remaining crossings that Brightline needs to update here in Brevard County is the crossing in Melbourne at Lake Washington Road, just off US-1. The Lake Washington Road crossing will close on Saturday and remain closed for three weeks. Meanwhile, if you travel the Beachline, you will begin to see trains traveling along there at maximum speeds of 125 miles an hour. There are no public crossings on that stretch of track.
