The Cocoa police officer who was arrested last month, following a long standoff with Brevard County law enforcement officers at a house in Viera, was denied bond Thursday. Judge Charles Crawford presided over the bond hearing for 39 year old Patrick Kelly, saying he wished Kelly had gotten the help that he now seeks before all this happened. The comment came as a response to Kelly’s defense attorney’s request to allow Kelly to seek alcohol and mental health treatment. The now former Cocoa police officer has been suspended without pay, pending termination.
