Additional homestead tax exemptions have been approved for some senior citizens in Melbourne. The Melbourne City Council approved an additional exemption of $25,000 for residents over the age of 65 with limited income, and it will go into effect for tax year 2024. Any Melbourne resident 65 or older whose income does not exceed the household income limitation published by the Florida Department of Revenue may apply for the exemption.
