Palm Bay Police Release More Details About Weekend Shootings

Palm Bay police held a news conference Monday afternoon to give out more details about a shooting that took place over the weekend that left three people dead and two police officers wounded. It all took place just after 2pm on Sunday at a home on Forgal Avenue NE in Palm Bay. The shooter was 24-year-old Brandon Kapas, who was killed by officers after he opened fire on two of them. One of those officers was released from the hospital on Monday and another underwent successful surgery. One of the victims who was found dead on the scene was Brandon Kapas’ 78 year old grandfather, William Kapas, Sr. Two other victims who died have been identified as the Rev. Robert Hoeffner and his sister, Sally. Police say after it all was over, they searched Kapas’ vehicle, where they found an arsenal of weapons. They say it remains unclear what his intentions were.
