High Speed Crash In Indian River County Leaves Cocoa Man Dead

A man from Cocoa was killed Monday in a high speed motorcycle crash in Indian River County involving a stolen motorcycle. Police say 40 year old Dennis Hughey Jr was operating the 2021 Yamaha when it crashed into a vehicle being driven by a 34 year old Vero Beach man, who was the only occupant of that vehicle. He wasn’t hurt. When deputies arrived, they say Hughey was unresponsive. He was taken to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says the bike is the subject of an investigation after it was reported stolen in Orlando on February 19th. Hughey is the same guy who previously served four years in prison for concealing the body of 39 year old Danielle Jacobs in Canaveral Groves back in 2012. He also served time behind bars beginning in 2021, and was released last May for possession of a methamphetamine.
