In case you noticed some smoke yesterday, Emergency Management officials in Brevard County have confirmed a prescribed burn covering 1,000 acres was undertaken on Sunday in the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Residents were urged not to be alarmed by smoke in the area. The controlled burn aimed to manage vegetation and reduce the risk of wildfires.
