Just below the Brevard County line… in Indian River County… a homeless man was arrested after police say he whacked another man with an umbrella along U.S. Highway 1 in Sebastian. Sebastian Police say 61-year-old Michael Britton attempted to steal items from another homeless man when he hit him with an umbrella… as the victim defended himself by hitting Britton with a stick. Witnesses in a nearby bar ran out to pull the two apart. Police say Britton was highly intoxicated at the time. After being treated for a head injury at Sebastian River Medical Center, Britton was charged with Disorderly Intoxication and then locked up in the Indian River County Jail. No update on the condition of the victim, who police say requested not to file charges.
