Challenger 7 Elementary School in Brevard County was placed under a shelter in place Friday due to an accidental shooting nearby. According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, a man was unintentionally shot inside a car around 1:20 p.m., sparking a death investigation. The incident occurred off school property as the occupants were en route to pick up their grandchild. The shelter in place was lifted around 2 p.m., allowing dismissal to resume. The incident did not occur in the pickup line. The investigation continues, and anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
