Four women are facing serious charges after allegedly kidnapping a 6-year-old child in Melbourne following an attack on the child’s mother. Melbourne police responded to a disturbance call and learned that the suspects, believed to be related to the child’s father, forcibly took the child while threatening the mother with a knife. The suspects fled in an SUV with an Alabama license plate. Thanks to an alert, law enforcement located the vehicle near Lake City on Interstate 10, rescuing the child and apprehending the women. The suspects, facing multiple charges including kidnapping and assault, and they will be extradited to Brevard County. The investigation remains active.
