Tragedy struck on Saturday afternoon in north Melbourne as a 77-year-old Satellite Beach woman lost her life in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 1. The incident occurred around 3:15pm and resulted in a temporary closure of the southbound lanes near the Pineda Causeway. According to Florida Highway Patrol, the collision happened when a Subaru Outback pulled out from a parking lot into the path of a northbound Nissan Altima. The Subaru’s driver, the Satellite Beach woman, was taken to Viera Hospital but she later succumbed to her injuries. The Altima’s driver sustained minor injuries. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
