Questions Surround Tijuana Flats Plans After Bankruptcy

Amid a current wave of bankruptcy filings that are already outpacing last year in what businesses cite as increasingly difficult financial times, another Florida-based restaurant is now making the dubious list. Tijuana Flats has announced that the company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The new ownership says they have plans to change things while they still focus on the things that originally brought so many people to Tijuana Flats. As part of those plans though, the chain has closed 11 Tijuana Flats locations. Tijuana Flats was founded nearly 30 years ago in Winter Park. The chain now has over 60 restaurants here in Florida, including restaurants in Brevard County. The company has not yet announced which of its restaurants will be closed.
