2 Brevard County Men Sentenced in Haitian Smuggling Case

44 year old Michael Milano of Merritt Island was sentenced to two years in federal prison for captaining a boat smuggling Haitian, Honduran, and Bahamian migrants into the U.S. He also faces three years of supervised release and $5,100 in criminal assessments. 45 year old Raymond Smith, a Rockledge roofing contractor involved in the operation, received 30 months in prison and was ordered to forfeit $284,000 and two boats used in smuggling more than 90 migrants. Both pleaded guilty to human smuggling charges linked to multiple trips between 2023 and 2024.
