Florida Law Enforcement Arrests Over 10,400 Illegal Immigrants

State and local authorities arrested more than 10,400 people in Florida as part of Operation Tidal Wave, a major immigration enforcement effort. Brevard and Indian River Counties were among the counties involved. Governor Ron DeSantis said the operation focused on removing individuals with criminal records and was the largest partnership in ICE history.

Brevard County Leads Florida In Manatee Deaths

Brevard County recorded the highest number of manatee deaths in Florida in 2025, with 118 reported by the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Most involved young manatees. Statewide, 628 manatees died last year, up from 565 in 2024.

Oklahoma Becomes Lightning Capital Of The US

Oklahoma has overtaken Florida as the nation’s lightning capital. A new report shows Oklahoma recorded 73 cloud to ground lightning strikes per square mile in 2025, the highest in the country. Florida ranked second but again led the nation in lightning related deaths.

SpaceX Targets Second Cape Launch Of 2026

SpaceX is aiming for its second rocket launch of 2026 from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Thursday afternoon. A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off between 1:29 and 5:29 p.m., carrying 29 Starlink internet satellites into low-Earth orbit. The booster is expected to land on a SpaceX drone ship in the Atlantic.
