An adult male manatee trapped in a storm drain under a roadway in Brevard County has been safely rescued. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Brevard County Fire Rescue worked for several hours in Melbourne Beach, drilling into the road and lifting a concrete slab to free the animal. Officials say the manatee appeared active with no signs of cold stress, though its overall health is still being evaluated.
