As a massive 5,000-mile-wide seaweed blob continues to head toward Florida, new plans are being considered including one calling for sinking the stinky mess before it gets here. The big mass of sargassum can be seen from space, and it’s already begun washing ashore in some parts of the state… particularly in Key West. One option that is being considered now after being tested in the Dominican Republic and Antigua is simply sinking it in giant nets offshore before it gets close to land. But so far, the plan has not been very successful.
