The Brevard County Board of Commissioners held their regular weekly meeting yesterday, and one of the things on the table was a vote to renegotiate the cost of lifeguard protection with beachside municipalities. In the end, the vote was unanimous… The County Commissioners voted to shift the cost… that now is covered by county money… to beachside municipalities that use county-operated lifeguard towers. But with that change comes another change… The lifeguard towers at North Spessard Holland in Melbourne Beach and the Indialantic boardwalk will go from part-time to full-time stations, and the county will cover those costs. The change won’t become effective until October… after the summer season passes.
