FDOT has plans to widen State Road 528 for a 3.8 mile stretch from east of State Road 524 to east of State Road 3 from 4 to 6 lanes. But the plan to lessen congestion heading into Port Canaveral likely remains years away. The US Army Corps of Engineers released a public notice concerning the whole thing on Monday, and now there is a public comment period open until December 13th. The project carries a price tag of more than $387 million.
