Florida is well known for invasive species… the explosion in the python population in south Florida immediately comes to mind. But another invasive species is quickly becoming one of the top problem species not only here in Florida, but increasingly across many other states… Feral hogs… often referred to as wild boars. Texas has the most, followed closely by Georgia and then by Florida… which comes in at #3 nationwide. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, feral hogs are one of the most destructive and formidable invasive species in the country. They can also be very aggressive and dangerous to humans, livestock and pets.
