2 people and a dog had to be rescued after their boat flipped over in the Indian River Lagoon on Saturday. Police say it happened about a mile offshore and about two miles south of the Melbourne Causeway. Melbourne Police, along with Melbourne Fire Rescue, Indialantic Police, Melbourne Beach Police, and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit all assisted after the 17 foot long Aqua Sport boat capsized. A man and a woman who were on board were taken to the hospital to be checked out. Nobody was hurt.
