A major beach renourishment project is underway in Brevard County to restore sand lost during Hurricanes Ian and Nicole. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is leading the $50 million project, which will bring 1.1 million cubic yards of sand to our eroded areas. The project, funded by tourist taxes, is expected to boost local businesses and continue attracting visitors to the Space Coast, contributing to our $2 billion yearly tourism revenue. Despite the ongoing work, the beaches remain open. The project will pause for sea turtle nesting season from May to October and it should all wrap up by next April.
