It was 55 years ago today, that history was made. It was on July 16, 1969, at 9:32am, when the Saturn V rocket with Apollo 11 lifted off for the Moon from right here on the Space Coast, with astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins….
Aboard the spacecraft that eventually led to Armstrong and Aldrin being the first humans to ever set foot on the surface of the moon, carried some symbolic mementos. Among them was a piece of wood from the Wright Brothers Flyer and a silicon disc with messages from 73 world leaders. Their footprints remain on the lunar surface today.
