Melbourne Addresses Pedestrian Safety

Melbourne City Council has approved a project aimed at improving pedestrian safety at the University Boulevard and Grant Street intersection. The plan includes constructing a raised crosswalk, adding an eight-foot median for pedestrian refuge, and installing rectangular rapid flashing beacons to alert drivers. These changes are designed to make crossing the busy, four-lane road safer for both pedestrians and bicyclists. Construction is set to begin later this summer and is expected to take around four months.
