Brevard Rabies Warning

Brevard County health officials have issued a rabies alert following the discovery of a rabid stray cat on Lynn Avenue in Melbourne. The cat was found on July 17 and tested positive for the virus. The alert covers a 60-day period for the area between North Harbor City Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue. Residents are advised to avoid contact with wild animals and ensure their pets are protected. If bitten or scratched, seek medical attention immediately and report the incident to Brevard County Animal Services or the Department of Health.
