Nancy Noel Higgs, a former Brevard County commissioner and environmental advocate, has passed away at age 75 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Serving three terms on the Brevard County Commission from 1992 to 2004, Higgs was known for her commitment to preserving natural habitats and her role in protecting local areas from development. Beyond her political career, Higgs was a business owner, education advocate, and avid runner. She was also active in numerous community organizations. A celebration of her life will be held on August 20 at Honest John’s Fish Camp in Melbourne Beach.
