A Palm Bay man was fatally shot by a deputy at a RaceTrac convenience store in Indian River County last Sunday. 42 year old Jeffrey Miller according to investigators, attacked customers and confronted the deputy with a knife and vape pen just before 11pm Sunday at the store near County Road 512. When Miller attempted to assault the deputy, he was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy, who was unharmed, had been responding to an unrelated disturbance nearby. An internal investigation and an independent review by the State Attorney’s Office is now underway.
