Tropical Wave Now Invest 97 – Taking Aim At Gulf Coast

A tropical wave moving towards Florida is becoming more defined, and now forecasters are predicting it might shift its path westward. The National Hurricane Center reports that while the system is currently producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms affecting Puerto Rico and nearby areas, it has a 10% chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours, increasing to 60% over the next week. Models now suggest the wave could track towards the Gulf of Mexico, potentially bringing significant rain to Florida starting this weekend, with the heaviest amounts falling to the west of us here on the Space Coast. The exact timing and impact remain uncertain as the system continues to develop, but as of the latest information, it appears that we will escape the brunt of the storm… although we do need some rain around here.
