The Brevard County Commission met Tuesday, and approved a $1.23 million grant for the construction of a new amphitheater at Veterans Memorial Park on Merritt Island. Funded by the 5% tourism tax on hotel stays, the grant will enhance restroom and concession facilities, bringing the project’s total cost to an estimated $7.9 million. The amphitheater, set to begin construction in April 2025, is projected to host 19 concerts and various events annually, generating significant economic benefits.
