NASA has announced that Boeing’s Starliner capsule will make an attempt to return to Earth… without a crew… on Saturday, September 7. Originally launched on June 5 from Cape Canaveral for what was supposed to be a one week stay, the Starliner docked at the International Space Station but faced continued problems due to helium leaks. Those leaks actually were detected prior to launch, but the Starliner launched anyway… with two astronauts aboard. Those two astronauts are now spending an extended and unexpected stay at the space station, and are not coming home now until sometime next February! After undocking next Saturday, the capsule will attempt to return to earth, and land at White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico, about six hours later.
