Keeping An Eye On The Tropics

Tropical Depression Seven, currently located about 700 miles west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, could soon strengthen into a tropical storm, according to the National Hurricane Center. The depression has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and is moving west-northwest at 17 mph. While currently no coastal watches or warnings are in effect, the system is expected to gradually intensify over the next 48 hours. Long-range models suggest it does not pose a threat to Florida. The NHC is also monitoring Tropical Depression Francine and other disturbances in the tropics, but those too as of right now anyway, pose no threat to us… all as hurricane season has reached its peak. But don’t let your guard down yet. Hurricane Season runs until the end of November, so we still have a chance to get a storm, and it only takes one.
