A Central Florida mother has been arrested after her child missed over 200 days of school in the past three years. The 46-year-old woman, from Brevard County, faces a misdemeanor charge for failing to ensure her child’s attendance. Court records indicate the child, enrolled at Fairglen Elementary in Cocoa, had 214 absences, including 33 in just 90 days this school year. The mother appeared in court for the first time after her arrest. Legal experts warn that extreme cases could lead to child neglect charges, especially if parents are deliberately keeping their children from attending school.
