A 17-year-old in Volusia County is recovering after being slashed across the nose and lip with a knife during a dispute. The incident occurred when the teen and 34-year-old RJ Charles Phifer became involved in an argument. Volusia County deputies used witness accounts and video footage to locate Phifer early Thursday morning, finding him still in possession of the weapon. The teen’s injuries are non-life-threatening, and he has since been treated and released from the hospital. Phifer faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery and child abuse, and is scheduled to appear in court later today.
