Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a tragic shooting that occurred early Friday morning in the parking lot of Tropical Manor Apartments on Merritt Island. The incident claimed the life of 36-year-old Tasha Smith of Merritt Island, who was reportedly not involved in the altercation. Deputies responded around 12:20 a.m. to a disturbance, where a physical fight escalated into gunfire between two men. Smith was in the vicinity when she was struck but investigators say she was not the intended target. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
