Coast Guard Rescue Off Sebastian Inlet

More details today about an incident in which a U.S. Coast Guard crew successfully airlifted an 81-year-old man from a recreational boat 15 miles east of Sebastian Inlet last Thursday. The rescue was prompted by a distress call around 10:30 a.m. reporting the man suffering from severe chest pain on a 24-foot vessel. Coast Guard personnel quickly diverted from training to respond. The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew hoisted the man and transported him to Indian River Medical Center for emergency medical care. No other details about the man or his condition have been released.
