Flood warnings are currently in effect for Lake and Volusia Counties as Central Florida braces for heavy rainfall this weekend. An area of low pressure from the Gulf of Mexico is expected to bring a surge of tropical moisture to the state, with models predicting rainfall totals between five to seven inches in some parts of the state by early next week. While the system has struggled to organize, it could still develop into a weak tropical storm. For now, everyone is urged to stay alert for changing weather conditions as the National Hurricane Center reports a 40% chance of development in the coming days. Whatever does develop though, is not expected to be anything close to what turned out to be Hurricane Helene… this time around, mainly just a lot of rain.
