Time To Prepare For Milton Is Running Out

Brevard County residents need to secure any debris, lawn clippings, or items left at the curb before Hurricane Milton impacts our area beginning Wednesday. The storm is expected to bring high tropical storm or Category One hurricane force winds up to 75 mph to the Space Coast. Trash pickup schedules will likely be disrupted or certainly delayed. Don’t place loose debris curbside right now, as it will not be collected before the storm arrives and it can become dangerous. If you haven’t finalized your hurricane prep yet, today is the last chance to do so. Take anything that could become a projectile inside or make sure that it is securely fastened down. Expect power outages, and remember to never go near any downed power lines. Consider them all live! If you are new to the area and are uncomfortable staying put and thinking of leaving, you probably should have already done so. Highways will be extremely busy today, and some gas stations along the interstates could run out of fuel, so unless you live in a flood prone area or a mobile home, stay put and hunker down. If you need something, you should already have it, but if you still need to buy anything like water, buy only what you need and leave some for others. The storm will pass.
