In an update this morning from the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Milton’s eye is now forecast to pass directly over central Brevard County Thursday afternoon. Forecasters are calling for Tropical Storm conditions along the Space Coast to begin today. A storm surge warning is now in effect for the Brevard County barrier islands. Surge heights up to 5 feet are possible. The tornado threat will also increase beginning today. We should prepare for Cat 1 Hurricane force winds, with gusts peaking at limited times in some spots, to around 85 mph. The window for Tropical Storm force winds opens this evening and will remain open until Thursday evening. Power and communication outages are expected.
