More than twenty elderly residents were rescued from a Merritt Island apartment complex after an elevator malfunction left them stranded. Brevard County Fire Rescue responded Friday night to The Lenox at Merritt Island, a 10-story apartment complex primarily housing elderly residents, where they carried residents back to their units, mostly located on higher floors. No injuries were reported. Officials are investigating the cause of the elevator failure.
