The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a local “school lunch lady” as they are often referred to, for sending explicit images to a student. Ashely Pearce was employed as an assistant cafeteria worker at Merritt Island High School, where investigators say she gave the student her social media handle and told the student to follow her on a certain app. After that student followed her on the app, they engaged in private messages, and that’s when investigators say Pearce sent the student an explicit photo. The student blocked the account, and then reported it. An investigation is now underway to try to determine if there are any other potential victims. Pearce was locked up in the Brevard County Jail on charges including transmitting material harmful to a minor by electronic device or equipment. She also worked as an after-school child care provider at Andersen Elementary School, but has since been suspended from both positions by Brevard Public Schools.
