Aerospace leaders are pushing for major upgrades to Cape Canaveral to support a growing number of launches, following a record year in 2024. Space Florida officials have outlined six key projects, including improvements to electrical systems, wastewater facilities, and the replacement of the Roy D. Bridges Bridge which spans the Banana River and connects the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The upgrades are expected to help increase launch capacity from 1,000 metric tons to 5,000 metric tons annually, potentially reaching up to 220 Falcon 9 launches a year.
