Brevard County is moving forward with septic-to-sewer conversions in neighborhoods along the Indian River Lagoon, including Milford Point Drive near the Merritt Island Walmart. The county recently approved funds to cover unexpected cost overruns caused by coquina rock, which hindered progress on the project. The initiative, funded by a half-penny sales tax, aims to improve water quality. The county has already converted hundreds of homes, with more expected to follow.
