Concerns are rising for some cruise passengers headed to Haiti after a sudden itinerary change. Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas had to dock in Haiti instead of San Juan, Puerto Rico, due to safety issues at the San Juan port. Haiti is under a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory by the U.S. State Department, due to rampant crime and civil unrest. The FAA has restricted flights to parts of Haiti following a gunfire incident involving a Spirit plane. Passengers are said to be opting to stay on board for safety. The situation remains under close scrutiny.
