The Brevard Zoo is moving forward with plans for what will become the Bowen Aquarium and Conservation Center in Port Canaveral. Named after John and Pat Bowen, major donors to the $100 million project, groundbreaking is scheduled for the coming year. The facility, now 86% funded, will focus on native wildlife conservation, including sea turtles and manatees. It will feature interactive exhibits and create over 1,200 jobs. It aims to support the restoration of the Indian River Lagoon and is expected to open within three years.
