New Plans For “The Compound”

Palm Bay’s City Council is now exploring new development for “The Compound,” that 2,000-acre area in southwest Palm Bay that has sat dormant since the 1980s after a developer abandoned the project. The EPA has proposed a $100,000 grant for technical assistance to help the city assess and plan for revitalization. While some council members support the funding as a chance to create an industrial or BMX park, others argue the city already understands the area’s needs and would be better of to just simply move forward without federal aid, and the strings that come attached to it.
